Modest Mouse at Number #1 (with 27% Digital)
I mentioned yesterday that Modest Mouse’s We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank has done very well so far. Now, it has officially landed at number #1 on the Billboard charts.
And apparently, 27% of sales of the album have been digital. In 2006, only 10% of all music sales were digital.
Whether this is the start of a trend, where newer and younger acts see more of their sales go the digital download route, I don’t know (I hate to attach those terms to Modest Mouse, by the way, who I have been a fan of since the year 2000 - but to most people, they are newer and younger).
Personally, I have not yet decided how to buy the album… (Again, see yesterday’s post).
